# Working with several master CVs

> Keep one master CV for each kind of role you apply for, named for it. When you tailor for a posting you choose which one to start from, and the application keeps its own copy.

## When a second one helps

A master CV holds everything you've done for one kind of role. If you apply in two directions, say frontend engineering and product design, a master CV for each keeps the story straight for both.

## Making another

From your master CVs, choose **New master CV** and name it for the kind of role it's for. You can:

- start empty and fill it in,
- import it from a file, or
- duplicate one you have, keeping everything or having Romy translate the copy.

## Looking after them

- One master CV is the default; **Set as default** makes another one it.
- **Rename** it whenever the direction changes.
- **Delete** removes it with its versions. Applications tailored from it keep their own copies.

When you tailor a CV for a posting, you pick the master CV it starts from.

## If that doesn't work
