# Sign in with a link, a password, Google, Apple or GitHub

> Enter your email and open the link we send, sign in with a password, or continue with Google, Apple or GitHub. Every way reaches the same account.

## How it works

On the sign-in page, enter your email and choose **Continue with email**, then open the link in that email. If you don't have an account yet, the same step creates one.

You can also choose **Continue with Google**, **Continue with Apple** or **Continue with GitHub**, or **Use a password instead**.

## Sign in with a password

- **New account:** choose **Create an account with a password**, enter your email and a password of at least 10 characters, then open the link we email to confirm the address. You only confirm once; after that the password alone signs you in.
- **Add a password to your account:** go to **Settings › Account › Sign-in** and choose **Email me a link to set one**. The link lets you choose it, so only someone with your inbox can add one.
- **Change it:** **Settings › Account › Sign-in › Change password**. You need the current one, and your other devices are signed out.
- **Forgot it:** choose **Forgot password?** on the password form. We email a link that works once, for 1 hour. Choosing a new password signs out every other device, and we email you that it changed.

We refuse passwords that have appeared in a known data breach elsewhere. After several wrong tries, password sign-in waits a few minutes; a sign-in link always still works.

## One email is one account

Signing in with a link, a password, Google, Apple or GitHub under the same address opens the same account, not a second one. A GitHub account whose email address isn't verified can't sign in: you'll see "That sign-in didn't finish". Verify the address on GitHub, or use an email link.

If you choose **Hide My Email** when you continue with Apple, Rolebranch gets a private relay address instead of yours, and that is a separate account. To keep one account, share your email with Apple, or connect Apple in **Settings › Account › Sign-in** while you're signed in.

## If the email doesn't arrive

1. Look in your spam folder for **Your Rolebranch sign-in link**, **Confirm your email for Rolebranch** or **Reset your Rolebranch password**.
2. Choose **send it again** on the Check your inbox page.
3. If the address was wrong, **Use a different email** takes you back to fix it.

## If that doesn't work

Tell us the address you tried and what you saw. A person on the team replies by email.
